In sports there are many fears and anxieties that can get in the way of performance. Fear of making a mistake, striking out, getting hit with a pitched ball, choking on the second serve in tennis or missing free throws are just some of the issues that come up with kids and adults. Then of course there are general fears such as fear of failure, getting cut from the team, getting yelled at by the coach etcetera.
These are all a symptom of our beliefs or “comedies”, as Gary Craig the founder of EFT refers to them. Golfers make comments like I always shoot in the low eighties or mid nineties. Shooting in this range of scores is where they feel they belong and keeps them in their “comfort zone”. Change the comfort zone and you will change the score.
Other comedies include beliefs like “I’m good at rebounding but I can’t shoot” or “I’m a great hitter but I can’t field”. All of these beliefs can be dealt with through EFT. Gary Craig suggests we try EFT on everything and when I do I am rarely disappointed.
I have worked with gymnasts, basketball and football players and executives on fear of speaking. I’ve worked extensively with golfers since golf is a passion of mine. If you are interested in specifically improving your golf game you may want to check out the golf manual I wrote, “Better Golf with EFT”. It’s available as an e-book at www.eftgolf.com plus you’ll find some interesting articles as well.
